3-9-2000 Netcode Rewrite - [ResDe]
I'm working on a network rewrite based on ZDoom now, getting speed off of peer to peer netcode is just not efficient enough, I'm working on rewriting the netcode and the game code in Doom now so it will be like Quake and Quakeworld when it's done.
3-5-2000 Plans for NetDoom - [ResDe]
After playing many games of Starcraft with Battle.net and IPX Network, I have come up with the plans for the NetDoom interface structure, which includes a new VB program called NetLaunch to act as a front-end for NetDoom, similar to Doomserv. The interface will consist of:
NetLaunch enters chat room and retrieves session list
NetLaunch can be used as a chat client or a server browser
An IRC script will be made for games that want to start in IRC
The server prog will be called NetServ, it is what NetLaunch will connect to
The network code of NetDoom will be used after NetLaunch launches a game
I have posted a screenshot of NetLaunch in the screenshots section. You can go check it out there.
3-3-2000 The Doom Netcode - [ResDe]
Well, it's been a few days and I'm planning on rewriting parts of the Doom network code and the jtNet dll, my main goal with the Doom netcode is to get every bit of speed I can get from the current peer to peer design, and my works with the jtNet dll code is to create a working chat interface, well, that's about it.
2-29-2000 NetDoom v0.3 Released - [ResDe]
NetDoom 0.3 with Boom support has been released, implementing the code into prBoom also adds better error handling to the program, and the Boom consistency code proved to be better than the original Doom, so it may be even less buggy, get it in the files section, again cross-version games are not compatible.
